Bio: DJ Cat

David M. Domena aka “DJ Cat” is
the creator and programmer of WGVR Radio New York / G.V. Radio
– Established in 2005.

He is also a DJ / Radio Host on WGVR Radio New York as well.

DJ Cat is a Native New Yorker, raised in Glendale Queens,
and moved to Long Island New York with His family in 1980.

Little did DJ Cat know
that moving to Long Island, would change His musical interests
from Classic Rock & Roll, and Psychedelic 60’s music
to the then exploding 80’s New Wave scene on Long Island.

DJ Cat, who frequented CBGB’s in the early 80’s
had now become a huge fan of Punk Rock, and the New Wave explosion.

It was after David dated a girl named Christine from Bellmore New York,
that the Changeover to New Wave Music was sealed.

Christine was a 92.7 WLIR listener,
and made DJ Cat aware of this rising New Wave Music Radio Station.
DJ Cat, was never the same again.

WLIR was a beloved Long Island based Radio Station,
with a huge following in Long Island and New York City
that ran from the early 80’s – all the way up to 2004.

DJ Cat, began Patronizing the New Wave Nightclubs of the day
such as Uncle Sams, Spit, Spize, Luxe, Malibu, Industry,
and many others over the years.

David, a long time listener of 92.7 WLIR since 1982
continued His love for New Wave / Alternative Rock.

After the demise of WLIR in 2004
David had wanted to somehow continue the music.

The demise of Long Island and NYC Nightclub Promotion
heard on WLIR, also greatly concerned David.

DJ Cat, did not want the New Wave scene on Long Island,
and in New York City to die.

After teaching himself website design, web programming,
and audio techniques – G.V. Radio was born in 2005.

G.V. Radio ran as an mp3 based Radio Station at first for a few years,
but then, began Streaming LIVE for the first time in 2013.

David was unfortunately forced to shut G.V. Radio down later in 2013,
due to personal setbacks.

However, DJ Cat missed G.V. Radio,
and re-deployed WGVR Radio New York in 2019 with outstanding results!

WGVR Radio New York, is currently heard
in about 2/3rds of the Nations Around the World.

G.V. Radio plays a Mix of Modern Alternative Rock, Indie Rock, Gothic Rock,
Classic 80’s New Wave, Synth-pop, Industrial, Underground Hits,
as well as Night Club Favorites.
